Direct answer

Plasma Rifle for flexibility, Drone Launcher for pressure

The Plasma Rifle is our best general-purpose weapon because a precise impact can also chain damage into nearby enemies. The Drone Launcher earns the other S-tier slot by adding autonomous pressure. Use the Mechanical Bow instead when the fight rewards careful long-range weak-point shots and lower relative ammo pressure.

S

Best all-rounder

Plasma Rifle covers accurate single-target fire and grouped enemies without requiring two separate weapon roles.

S

Best extra pressure

Drone Launcher can deploy up to nine autonomous drones, making it useful while you move, aim, or change roles.

A

Best precision pick

Mechanical Bow has the projectile speed, penetration, and accuracy to reward deliberate long-range aim.

We did not run our own frame-by-frame damage test, so this page does not publish someone else's numbers as first-party results. The tiers answer a different question: which role deserves one of your six slots.

Ranking method

How the tiers were assigned

The ranking starts with official behavior, then weighs the combat decisions the description implies. It is intentionally narrower than a full weapon database: the table covers the 13 additions Pocketpair introduced with 1.0 and does not pretend every pre-1.0 weapon was retested on this site.

Factor 1The official weapon behavior described in Pocketpair's Palworld 1.0 changelog.Checked
Factor 2Whether the weapon can apply pressure at useful range and line up weak-point hits consistently.Checked
Factor 3Relative ammo pressure, role overlap, and what the weapon contributes to a six-slot loadout.Checked
Factor 4A current community test page used only as a cross-check, not as first-party test data for this site.Checked

Relative ammo pressure is an editorial planning label—not an exact crafting-cost formula. Server settings, rarity, build bonuses, aim, and enemy defense can all change the result you see in game.

D tierSituational or progression-focused; D does not mean unusable at its intended stage.7 weapons
TierWeapon and roleBest useWeak points / ammoWhy it lands here
SPlasma Rifle
General-purpose endgame rifle
Mixed encounters and grouped enemiesReliable weak points
high ammo pressure
Its impact releases electrical arcs that chain between enemies, so one accurate weapon covers both single targets and crowded fights. Trade-off: Sustained use puts pressure on endgame ammunition; save it for fights where the chained hits have value.
SDrone Launcher
Independent battlefield pressure
Boss phases, mobile targets, and multi-taskingLimited weak points
high ammo pressure
It deploys up to nine autonomous combat drones, adding pressure while the player repositions or uses another weapon role. Trade-off: The drones are not a precision weak-point tool, and filling the field is a resource commitment rather than a free opener.
AMechanical Bow
Long-range precision
Accurate boss shots and resource-conscious ranged playReliable weak points
low ammo pressure
Pocketpair highlights its projectile velocity, penetration, and accuracy, which makes it the cleanest precision specialist in the 1.0 set. Trade-off: Its value drops when the player cannot maintain charged, accurate shots or the target constantly breaks line of sight.
ATactical Grenade Launcher
Long-range area damage
Groups, cover, and controlled bombardmentLimited weak points
medium ammo pressure
Improved projectile stability gives this launcher a clear long-range area role instead of forcing it into close-range splash damage. Trade-off: Explosion placement matters more than weak-point aim, so it is a specialist rather than the default answer to every boss.
BCombat SMG
Close-to-mid sustained fire
Aggressive movement and steady pressureReliable weak points
high ammo pressure
Its larger magazine and enhanced ammunition support suppressive fire without asking for the timing of a bow or launcher. Trade-off: The fast firing pattern turns missed shots into wasted resources quickly, especially outside its comfortable range.
CHeavy Assault Rifle
Familiar rifle handling
Players who value a conventional all-round rifleReliable weak points
high ammo pressure
It keeps assault-rifle versatility while moving to more powerful ammunition, making it easy to understand and use. Trade-off: It overlaps with the Plasma Rifle and Combat SMG without adding their chaining or compact suppressive niche.
DPrototype Shotgun
Close-range burst
Large targets at point-blank rangeLimited weak points
medium ammo pressure
The official description pairs overwhelming close-range firepower with a magazine designed for sustained combat. Trade-off: Range and pellet spread make it hard to carry the precision role that dominates many endgame encounters.
DBeam Scatter
Wide close-quarters beam
Very close groups and large hitboxesLimited weak points
high ammo pressure
Its wide scatter beam can cover nearby space without demanding a pinpoint impact. Trade-off: The same spread that helps at close range works against consistent weak-point damage and efficient long-range use.
DBeam Launcher
Large-area burst
Short burst windows and clustered enemiesLimited weak points
high ammo pressure
A high-density beam creates a large-area explosion, giving the weapon a clear burst-and-clear identity. Trade-off: Pocketpair explicitly warns about overheating during sustained fire, so it should not occupy the only sustained-damage slot.
DLaser Sword
Ammo-free close combat
Saving ammunition against safe nearby targetsLimited weak points
none ammo pressure
It gives a late-tech melee option that does not depend on a stack of ammunition. Trade-off: Staying in melee range raises risk and gives up the easy weak-point access of precise ranged weapons.
DEnhanced Lily's Spear
Late-game melee fallback
Ammo-free cleanup and melee-focused playLimited weak points
none ammo pressure
Pocketpair positions it as the late-game member of the new melee progression. Trade-off: It is a deliberate melee choice, not a substitute for ranged boss pressure or safe weak-point targeting.
DPrimitive Sword
Early-game progression
The early game before stronger ranged options are practicalLimited weak points
none ammo pressure
It is explicitly introduced as an early-game close-quarters weapon and fills that progression step cleanly. Trade-off: D tier here means progression-only at endgame, not that the weapon fails at the point where it first appears.
DMetal Bat
Mid-game progression
Mid-game cleanup without spending ammunitionLimited weak points
none ammo pressure
It is the mid-game step in Pocketpair's new melee progression and remains simple to carry as a fallback. Trade-off: Its role is replaced once safe ranged damage and stronger late-game melee choices become sustainable.

Six-slot framework

Build a loadout instead of carrying six copies of one role

Palworld 1.0 added the Extra Weapon Holster, which lets you equip up to six weapons. That extra space is most useful when each slot answers a different failure case.

1

Sustained precision

Use Plasma Rifle, Mechanical Bow, or Combat SMG according to range and aim.

2

Area control

Reserve one slot for Tactical Grenade Launcher or another deliberate splash option.

3

Autonomous pressure

Drone Launcher creates a separate source of battlefield pressure for demanding phases.

4

Close-range answer

A shotgun or Beam Scatter can rescue a loadout when enemies collapse the distance.

5

Ammo-free fallback

Carry one melee option for safe cleanup instead of spending premium ammunition.

6

Fight-specific flex

Change this slot for the boss, status setup, capture plan, or resource route ahead.

Schematics and progression

Do not turn a tier into a guaranteed drop claim

Pocketpair's 1.0 changelog says Ancient Ruins can reward valuable items such as schematics. Current export-derived tables also place weapon schematics in the Ancient Relic Recycler's chance-based bonus pool. Neither statement proves that a particular run will produce the weapon or rarity you want.

Use the Recycler page for the actual grade decision.

Compare guaranteed materials, grade-sensitive bonus estimates, setup requirements, and the difference between a listed pool and a guaranteed result in the Ancient Relic Recycler loot table.

If you are still building the Pal team behind the loadout, start from the Palworld 1.0 Pal list and open a target in the calculator.

Patch and source boundary

What was checked—and what was not claimed

This page was reviewed against the published Palworld v1.0.3 notes on Aug 31, 2026. Those notes do not announce a general weapon rebalance. The absence of an announced rebalance is not proof against undocumented changes, platform differences, server modifiers, or later hotfixes.

Quick answers

Palworld weapon tier list questions

What is the best weapon in Palworld 1.0.3?

There is no single winner for every encounter. The Plasma Rifle is our best general-purpose pick because its impact can chain between enemies, while the Drone Launcher is the strongest independent-pressure option and the Mechanical Bow is the precision choice.

What is the best Palworld weapon for bosses?

Choose the Mechanical Bow when you can repeatedly hit a weak point at range, or the Plasma Rifle when you need a more forgiving all-round weapon. Open with the Drone Launcher when autonomous pressure is useful, then switch to the weapon that fits the boss phase.

Is this tier list based on measured DPS?

No. This is an editorial role tier list built from Pocketpair's official weapon descriptions, weak-point fit, relative ammo pressure, range, and six-slot usefulness. A current community test page was used as a cross-check, but its measured DPS is not presented as our own testing.

Did Palworld v1.0.3 rebalance these weapons?

Pocketpair's published v1.0.3 notes do not announce a general weapon rebalance. That is a boundary on the published notes, not proof that no undocumented value could ever change, so the ranking should be rechecked after future patches.

How do I get better weapon schematics in Palworld 1.0?

Palworld 1.0 added schematic rewards to Ancient Ruins, while current export-derived Ancient Relic Recycler tables include weapon schematics in chance-based bonus pools. Exact sources vary by weapon and rarity, so do not treat one recycler run or one chest as a guaranteed drop.
